Government and External Affairs

Intrado is fully committed to supporting emergency communication services and has a dedicated team which focuses and interfaces with government agencies and related associations. This team is the Intrado Government and External Affairs Team, commonly referred to as IGEA.

IGEA supports Intrado through involvement in appropriate regulatory and legislative matters; trade association relations and PSAP education and relations. The eight member team actively works FCC and Congressional policy issues; monitors and participates in State legislative and regulatory issues specific to Intrado’s business objectives and represents the company in all the major industry and trade associations involved in 9-1-1.

The recent FCC Order related to VoIP and 9-1-1 has provided IGEA the opportunity to work closely with the FCC and Congress; to interface with all the Local Exchange Companies for interconnection agreements; to support the VoIP Service Providers (VSPs) with their regulatory compliance requirements and to coordinate with the State 9-1-1 Program Office (if one exists) for State specific deployment requirements.
