Intrado’s Role

Overview

Intrado’s V9-1-1 Services provide a comprehensive solution for delivering E9-1-1 for VoIP including all aspects of service from the Voice Positioning Center (VPC) functionality to VoIP 9-1-1 call delivery to the Selective Router (SR) over a dedicated 9-1-1 network. Intrado has as a dedicated IP infrastructure for VoIP 9-1-1 call control and call termination. Intrado will take control of the VoIP 9-1-1 call from the VoIP service provider via one of the Intrado peering points and will terminate the call to a local gateway connected to the SR for native delivery to the PSAP. Intrado’s V9-1-1 Service delivers the VoIP 9-1-1 caller’s Call Back Number and location information to the appropriate PSAP based on the location of the caller.

Intrado Roles and Responsibilities

Intrado V9-1-1 Services enables both VoIP Positioning Center (VPC) Functionality and Call Delivery Capabilities to enable E9-1-1 for VoIP Server Providers (VSP).

VoIP Positioning Center (VPC) functionality


    • Provisioning of Subscriber Records
    • MSAG Validation on behalf of VSPs
    • Call routing capabilities
    • Assignment of appropriate routing based on location
    • Intrado maintains up to date Wireline PSAP boundaries through PSAP interaction
    • Dynamic ALI and ALI steering
    • Delivery of MSAG Address at time of VoIP 9-1-1 call
    • Intrado negotiates appropriate agreements with Regional ALI and SALI owners
    • pANI administration and assignment
    • Intrado management of number pools on behalf of VSPs
    • Intrado gains signoff from the appropriate PSAP on shell record format
    • 24x7 support
    • Intrado Emergency Call Relay Center

Call Delivery Capability


    • Intrado provides regionally distributed access points for aggregating VoIP 9-1-1 traffic into the network for easy handoff of VoIP 9-1-1 calls on behalf of our customers
    • Flexible Inbound interface options (PRI and SIP Handoff)
    • Enables delivery of calls to selective routers on behalf of VSPs

VoIP Service Provider Roles and Responsibilities


    • Must provide and provision E9-1-1 service to customers in accordance with FCC rules and regulations
    • VSPs can satisfy rule via interconnection with 3rd party partners, CLEC, or any other providers that has solution for E9-1-1
    • Must support registered location update via telephone or web interface
    • Must notify new and existing subscribers and maintain records
    • Provide warning labels to customers where appropriate

VoIP Service Provider Roles and Responsibilities Utilizing Intrado V9-1-1


    • Integrate VSP provisioning system with Intrado’s near real-time Validation and Update Interface (VUI)
    • Enable call handoff to the two Intrado peering points via a SIP Handoff or via dedicated PRI connectivity
    • Work with Intrado to enable notification to PSAPs and relevant jurisdictions regarding service

Intrado’s Interaction with ILECs Regarding V9-1-1


    • Intrado is experienced in dealing with the ILEC and can help facilitate open communications and dialogue between VSPs and the ILEC for 9-1-1 issues and concerns
