Highlights

Telephony Denial of Service for 911

John Snapp, VP Technology

Tuesday August 9, 2022 | 3:00 PM-4:00 PM | Room: 206

Presentation Description: The 911 network is vulnerable. Believe it or not, it is completely possible-with current i2 and i3 911 systems-- for a kid in his garage or a bad actor in another country to take down a single PSAP or even the entire 911 network using very few resources. These same people could also attach a PSAP or multiple PSAPs to divert resources to false calls. It's not just a possibility - it's been quietly happening around the country for years. Don't miss John Snapp's insight on TDOS and what can be done.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand attack vectors that bad actors can use to attack the native 911 trunks and admin line trunks
  • Understand how TDOS attacks can be detected
  • Understand what can be done to stop TDOS attacks when they happen and how to prevent them in the future

Transformational Cloud-Based Call-Handling

John Snapp, VP Technology
Wednesday August 10, 2022 | 10:00 AM-11:00 AM | Room: 303

Presentation Description: Call handling "in the cloud" is not an all‐or‐nothing proposition for PSAPs–many will have a hybrid solution with their on‐prem equipment for some time to come. Join Intrado's subject matter expert, John Snapp, to learn about real‐world benefits that may be realized by handling emergency communications in the cloud. A robust Q/A is expected.

Learning Objectives:

  • 1. Attendees will be introduced to cloud-based call handling
  • 2. The audience will gain an understanding of how Cloud Evolution for public safety is likely to occur and the benefits to be realized
  • 3. Those attending this presentation will walk away with the knowledge of challenges that may inhibit adoption of Cloud based Call Handling systems and how to overcome them
