In emergencies, every second counts - and every life matters. But what happens when someone can't make a voice call? Whether due to hearing or speech impairments, unsafe situations, or poor network conditions, traditional 9-1-1 calls aren't always possible.
That's why Text-to-9-1-1 is changing the game for Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) across the country. One organization leading this transformation is the Coastal Bend Council of Governments (CBCOG) in Texas.
CBCOG is a voluntary association of local governments serving 11 counties and over 30 cities in South Texas, headquartered in Corpus Christi. CBCOG manages the regional 9-1-1 network, including 17 PSAPs and leads efforts toward Next Generation 9-1-1 technology.
Since adopting Intrado's Text-to-9-1-1 solution, CBCOG Texas has seen firsthand how this technology helps save lives and improves community safety.
