Intrado Safety Suite Blog Series Part 1: Sustainable Solutions and How to Leverage Funding to Enhance Your School Safety Initiatives

School safety is a top priority for students, teachers, parents, and administrators. It is important to have a sustainable school safety plan with the right resources and tools so that campuses are safe, secure, and prepared for any emergency scenario that may occur.

A number of states have either already passed or are in the process of adopting Alyssa’s Law which requires schools to implement silent panic alarms with a direct connection to alert local law enforcement.  The law is currently in New Jersey, Florida, New York, along with other states and the U.S. Congress is sponsoring the legislation. Alyssa’s Law can help schools communicate quickly to receive help during an emergency.

Schools that leverage federal funds for technology modernization projects can help improve safety and security across their campus.  But many may question how these resources will get paid for after a grant funding expires. Intrado Safety Suite can help address this problem by offering sustainable safety solutions that don’t break the bank.

“I typically look at three steps for grant funding opportunities such as the planning process, grant award, and reporting. During the process you should prepare your plan, understand what school safety initiatives you need to take, choose the technology you want, decide what hardening infrastructure steps you need to take, and figure out what exact grants would cover everything. Intrado can assist you through this entire plan and help you understand what you need,” Brian Toolan, VP of Intrado Safety Suite.

Safety Suite is a safety management platform that contains four products that work all together such as Revolution, Safety Shield, Wearable Panic Button, and Visitor Management. These products deliver an end-to-end solution to prevent, prepare, respond, and recover from emergencies while also providing solutions to communication needs that occur daily. Safety Suite can easily integrate with current systems in schools making it cost-effective and extending the life of your existing products.

There are grant funding opportunities to enhance school safety initiatives in states like Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Connecticut, Oregon and more.
